Don’t worry. If you don’t have a teaching background, you can still excel as a Mathnasium franchisee. In fact, the backgrounds of our ideal franchisees vary greatly – from engineers and accountants to teachers and homemakers and everything in between.
Mathnasium franchise training was designed to level the playing field. We teach you all that you need to know about running a business that deals with maths instruction.
What experience do I need?
We understand that the thought of first-time business ownership is intimidating, but that’s the beauty of the franchise model – a proven operating system has already been established. All you have to do is follow the path.
While there is no magic combination of skills that ensure franchise success, a characteristic you must possess in order to run a Mathnasium franchise is a desire to help children. The byproduct of what we do is to change children’s lives for the better. Do you have more empathy than others? More compassion? In this business, the degree of your humanity is crucial to your success.
You are not buying a teaching job – you’ll be running a business. You’ll be hiring and leading a team of instructors with skills that are complementary to your own. Our best operators possess humility. They have a desire to learn the business, are self-motivators and leaders who enjoy mentoring others.
Overall, Mathnasium franchisees want to make a positive difference in their community – for the parents, for the children, and to be of help to their schools.
Initial Franchise Training
Once you sign on as a franchisee, you’ll gain access to an abundance of online training materials. You’ll also spend a time getting to know the business in Los Angeles, CA, at Mathnasium’s corporate headquarters. Here you’ll learn financial planning for your franchise and take education courses in the Mathnasium Method™.
You’ll also be exposed to our apprenticeship program in a live environment with kids present. We try to plan this as close as possible to the opening of your centre (within six weeks).

Ongoing Training and Support
Throughout the life of your franchise agreement, support will be there whenever you need it. In fact, as soon as you complete your initial training, you’ll be assigned a Specialist who will assist you up through your location’s grand opening making sure you have all that you need for a successful launch. Then, once your centre is up and running, the Specialist will regularly visit your location and provide expert advice for how to grow and maintain your business.
You’ll also have the advantage of attending our annual convention every July with Mathnasium franchisees from around the world. These conventions are invaluable opportunities to connect with your peers and share successes and tips.
